Upcoming Breeding Plans

Summer 2006:  UWP Grand Champion Cloudburst Faeden Chilali Song (Chili) will be bred to Ch PR Springcreek Lambeau Leap (Brett) pending final hip and eye certification.  Chili is an extremely athletic Chinook with huge enthusiasm for life.  She has been a serious competitor in the show ring, easily winning her Grand Championship and ranking in UKC's Top Ten at #3.  She earned her weight pull title in three consecutive events, never missing a beat.  Brett is a handsome young Chinook with wonderful black masking and a head that harks back to his grandsire, UWP Grand Ch. PR Rain Mountain Tonasket Thunder.  He started his show career with a bang, winning his first Best of Breed at only six months old.  Both Chili and Brett are crazy to run and Brett is now the demo dog for Daphne Lewis of www.dogscooter.com.  Their offspring should be excellent sled dogs.  It will be a first litter for both Brett and Chili.  Click here to see the prospective pedigree.

Winter 2006/2007:  Champion PR Hurricane Katsuk Rainsong will be in approximately December of 2006.  The sire-to-be has still not been selected.  This will be Katsuk's second litter; the pups from her first litter are turning out excellent and are beginning their show careers with great success.  Katsuk herself has an outstanding show career and is nearly undefeated even at highly competitive national shows.  she is a big Chinook girl, weighing in at 70 pounds in peak condition.  She is a good sled and skijor dog with a loving temperament.  Click here for Katsuk's pedigree.

The Rest of the Story

The Moonsong pack is truly happy with life. They especially love sledding, rigging, showing, or romping as a group. The best way to show this is with pictures.

Taking a break, the combined Moonsong and Rain Mountain team during the winter of 2006/2007.  In lead are Brett and his sire Tay; swing are Taaku (from the Rain Mountain team) and Chili; in wheel are Hyak and UConn; tied to the sled is Lolo (from the Rain Mountain team)

Dinner is a popular time of day

One of the best things about Chinooks is how easily they get along with other dogs and when you live with a pack, team harmony is critical for both day-to-day life and in harness.  From top to bottom, UConn, Brett, Pharaoh, and Tay (Chili with back to camera) all share a kiss.

From left to right: Tay, UConn with Hyak on top of him, and Chili on top of Pharaoh

Though they were just five months old at the time, Marshall (bottom left) and JJ Jiggles (bottom right) fell into place as if they were harnessed with the team.  Sledding truly is instinctive in Chinooks and Moonsong makes sure that all breeding stock has the instinct and drive to run.  Before going into harness, pups simply have fun running with their pack mates and playing in the snow.

End of the run with UConn and Brett in lead, Chili and Hyak in Swing, and Tay and Pharaoh in wheel.
