Being three weeks old means a lot of changes.  First was the big move from the whelping box in the back room out to the big wire crate and pen in the family room.  The world of the Oh No! boys got a lot bigger very quickly.  They now could keep an eye on Kitty Rory zooming in and out his cat door to the garage and see out the back door as the big dogs went in and out a thousand times a day.  In the evenings they now get the fredom of the family room (sans carpet and with everything moved to high altitude).  Above left and right, the move exhausted the boys.  Below, Rover checks out one of the many toys that are hung around the crate.  Hanging them up keeps them far cleaner and means they don't disappear under the couch.

Turning three weeks old also means that food is introduced.  Above right and below, the Oh No! boys check out their first meal of puppy formula.  All of them got at least some down their throats but most of it ended up all over them.  Lolo stepped in to help with clean-up duties, happily cleaning up the leftovers.  She is still nursing them every few hours so is eating roughly five times her normal intake of food.

William and Fred get as much ON them as IN them.

Rover attempts to lick the formula off his nose while Lolo shows
them how to eat a bit more neatly.

Lem goes for the very last drops

Harold (under Lolo's tummy) is sneaky and manages
to reach the mom faucets while Lolo cleans the pan.

Lolo walks away, much to the chagrin of Harold and Rover.

Two Weeks Old

Harold takes a nap while his brothers keep eating

Taga checks out his son, Fred

Fred tries gumming his teddy while Lemuel naps

Fred's hearty appetite is probably the cause of his
being the biggest pup.

William finds a comfy spot to nap.

If it seems that all the photos are of the pups
eating and sleeping, that's because they eat and sleep
all day long.

Now that he can see, William attacks my shoe

Fred practices a few shaky steps

All this eating tires out Lemuel

One Week Old

Fred uses Harold as a pillow.
Harold's pigment has been getting blacker every day.

The boys eat with enthusiasm

Lemuel snuggles between William and Rover.
Like Harold, his pigment is also turning black.

Rover's tan masking grows almost every day

Spot uses Rover as his pillow; Rover gives a big yawn

Nap time is done, now for another meal

Two Days Old

When the Oh No! pups were just two days old, Scott Hussey was kind enough to take this video.  there is absolutely nothing happening except half the pups eating and half the pups sleeping.  But watching the babies sleep and eat is one of the most zen experiences I can think of.  The are concerned only with food and warmth.  Those things are taken care of by Mom os all is well with their world.

24-Hours Old

These photos are courtesy of Kay Lee Brown who visited Lolo and the pups on the 23rd when they were just 24 hours old.  Kay Lee and I co owned Lolo's dam, Ch. PR Frontier Rain Dancer McKenzie CGC, and I'm the proud co-breeder of McKenzie with Susan Fletcher of Frontier Chinooks.  McKenzie was such a special pup that Susan and I held onto her until she was about five months old, searching for just the right home.  Kay Lee dove into the world of Chinooks head first when she got McKenzie and has worked with her in obedience, agility, sledding, and skijoring.  Lolo is from McKenzie's second litter sired by Ch. PR Hurricane Malibu Rain.

Lemuel takes advantage of his siblings nap to get
an undisturbed snack

Harold's toes are all that show after he burrows
into a corner of the whelping box

Rover, William, and Lemuel snooze in their
heated nest.

Nursing, from top to bottom: gray Spot with green collar;
honey-colored Lemuel nursing;  gray Rover nursing;
tawny Elizabeth with pink collar napping; buff Harold
and black William nursing

Whether snacking or snoozing, Mom is the
best place to be.

Mom makes the very best pillow.

Nursing is sometimes a contact sport.

Elizabeth and Spot napping.

This is easily my favorite photo of the pups so far.  Lolo had reached around to
wash herself as Rover snuggled.

Opps, it's a bit warm in here.

Harold shoves Rover out of the way.
