Rorik is a conglomerate. That's the only way to describe him. Connie
Jones visited here in the Northwest in the spring of 1998.
It just so happened that her husband bob was at home about to
deliver a litter of pups. Connie had the chance to spend an
afternoon on "Motley Hill" with the Wilmots and their three Chinooks,
multiple horses, cats, and other assorted creatures. Next thing
you know it's two months later and connie and I met at our Chinook
National Specialty in Colorado. On my drive home, I brought three
extra pups, one of which was to be named Rorik and take up residence
with the Wilmots.
Rorik, also known as "Squirt," settled into life on Motley Hill. His companions of the canine variety are Hurricane Beowulf, now still toddering strong at age fourteen, Dixieland Tillamook (Tillie), who may be eleven but still runs the household, and Northern Lights Dancer, a rescue Chinook that found the perfect home with Pam and Tim.
Pam Wilmot's hobbies are centered on showing her horses in dresage and jumping and Tim's run to Japanese swordsmanship, so Rorik's professional career fell to me and the rest of my Chinooks Northwest friends. Pam and Tim took care of Rorik's basic training and he's become an important member of the family there. He enjoys running their small farm and has many dog friends on neighboring farms. I've taken him to shows and campaigned him through his UKC championship. He frequently spends weekends visiting and has his own place in my pack.
You will notice in Rorik's pedigree that on his mom's side of the family,
part of the pedigree is "open." This means that though we are
sure Rorik is a purebred Chinook, all the dogs needed to DNA-verify
North Wind Nome were not available.
Rorik's breeding career is managed by Connie and Bob Jones, with imput from the Wilmots as his "custodial parents" and me as his handler.
