Chinooks in Top Ten In 1998 Chinooks became eligible for the first time
to compete in UKC's annual Top Ten competition. In each UKC conformation
show the dog that wins Best of Breed is awarded points based on how many
dogs it defeated. For example, if a total of ten Chinooks are showing,
the Chinook that wins Best of Breed is awarded nine points since it defeated
nine dogs. Points are compiled over the calendar year and the rankings
are published each month in UKC's Bloodlines magazine.
At the end of the year, the top ten point-getters are invited to a special competition held each June in conjunction with the UKC's Premier. These ten dogs then compete for the title of Best in Top Ten. |

of 2000 that shows almost all of the 1999 Top Ten Chinooks. Thanks
go to Pro Plan for the photo. They were thrilled to find out that
the Top Ten Chinooks that year were all raised on Pro Plan. Humans
are from left to right: Connie Jones, Nancy Fishinger, Penthea Burns,
Joyce Maley, Sandy Smith, Ginger Corley, Diana Fowler. Dogs are from
left to right, back row: Shelly, Chaser, Mackenzie, Tundra, Thunder;
front row: Duncan, Molly. Not able to make the trip were Toby, Leschi,
and Rangeley.
