The Great Chinook
I have finally done something that I have been thinking of doing for an age. I've just finished putting together the first history book ONLY on Chinooks. It is softcover, focuses on Chinook photo postal cards...includes over 120 images of such, plus some here-to-fore UNPUBLISHED photos. It is entitled "The Great Chinook: Wonalancet Years--Reviewing the History of New England's Unique Sled Dog Breed Through Photo Postal Cards ". There are some GREAT images, some intriquing images, lots of hints on how to broaden your knowledge AND your own collection of postcards of Chinooks...and more. Trust me, if you ever wished you could go back in time and meet Walden, see Chinook "in person," breathe the air, and walk the trail with these legends...this book is your ticket to the past. There is history you cannot find elsewhere, carefully researched and studiously reported. The book is in photocopy, softcover format and sells for $40 (postpaid within US) and contains (besides the 120 plus images) approx. eighty pages (full size, 8 1/2"X11" pages) of photo and text. It encompasses my ENTIRE collection of Chinook Dog/Wonalancet postcards, collected over a period of 25 years. It is absolutely the most cost effective way for you to add this history and these images to your library/collection. |

Coming September of 2002
TRAIL! Trail! is a compliation of stories and essays about sled dogs, sled dog drivers, sled dog breeds, little known (and oft forgotten--but still neat to know) facts, and some absolutely OVER THE TOP old photos of Malamutes, Siberians, Inuits, Chinooks, and on and on. It is a companion book to On By! and matches that book in size (about ninety pages, about the same as second edition of On By!) and content. On By! was specifically related to New England and Trail! is about sled dogs ALL OVER. I am finishing the editing now and it will be printed and mailed, I expect, by the middle of Sept. It is an EXCELLENT choice for gift giving, as it's privately printed (I am hoping to do a larger run of Trail! , but that will still be only two hundred copies), so it is rare and your gift-recipient is NOT going to find it at Barnes and Noble or on Amazon.com. The cost will be $22.50 within US. Canada is $23.50, Europe is $24.50 and Australia is $25.50. All prices include shipping. Payment must be in US funds, of course, and checks made out to Nancy Cowan. I can guarantee that if you love sled dogs/arctic breeds, you will love this book, as it is a reflection of my passion for the same. Not saying you will LOVE my writing...naturally, I HOPE you will...but those gorgeous antique photos in my collection will knock you out, and THAT I DO GUARANTEE. The first 100 copies will be numbered, but only the first 100 (this is the craziest thing I have done, numbering these books, but everyone likes to get numbered ones if possible, it seems) and of course, numbered or unnumbered, I am happy to write a personal dedication per your directions. Numbered copies of course, are on a first come-first served basis, I cannot reserve unless I have your payment. |
