PR Rain Mountain Skagit Saber
call name: Saber At stud to approved females
News Flash: Saber is spending the month of September (2005) with Rain Mountain Chinooks in the Seattle area.
During this time we hope he will be bred for the first time and finally get out in the show ring.
PR Rain Mountain Skagit Saber has a very important job. He's the family
pet and companion for the three young Boisse children in Castro Valley,
California. The
Boisse family weren't strangers to Chinooks as Saber's uncle, PR Rain
Mountain Chewalah Blue was already in residence when Saber arrived. But
where Blue likes to be a couch potato, Saber is raring to go. A
sledding trip to the mountains with the local Malamute club tells the
story of Blue and Saber's relationship. Alisa Boisse set out on
the sled with Saber and Blue pulling but ended up with Blue riding in
the basket and Saber pulling both of them!
Saber hasn't been in the show ring because of limited venues for Chinooks to show in California and because James has been spending a great amount of time overseas as part of his Marine Corps Reserve commitment. I'm very glad that he is now safely home from Afghanistan and hope he won't have to go back. Saber's littermates have done very well in the show ring though. His sister, Grand Ch. PR Rain Mountain Malipalik was Best in Top Ten for the year 2000 and his sister Grand Ch. PR Rain Mountain Seabecca attracted much attention while showing in New England. U-WP, U-CDX Ch. PR Rain Mountain Bannack CGC HIC, is working on his third obedience title. All the dogs from Saber's litter are large, heavy boned Chinooks with a strong desire to run and loving temperaments. I had the chance to visit with the Boise family Saber, and Blue
at their home in the fall of 2003. I was thrilled to see the grown up Saber after many
years of only photos. No camera can do his proud carriage justice.
His temperament is wonderful. He is a regular at the local dog
park (where is joined on many days by his cousins, WoodsRunner X Hudson West and PR Springcreek's Nookie). Saber is a large boy at roughly 80 pounds and 25 inches at the
withers. He has the ideal broad head and blocky muscle of the
hitorical Chinook along with good bone. His coat is lucious and
he has wonderful tail brushings. His deep chest gives pleanty of
room for good lung capacity and he is heavily muscled all over.
Though he was heavily masked as a pup, much of it has faded though he
retained heavy black "eyeliner" and "lipstick" along with a black chin. Saber's breeding career is being managed by Rain Mountain Chinooks
though he is owned by James and Jeanette Boisse. He is located just
outside San Francisco in Castro Valley and we have vets lined up for AI
services for shipping fresh chilled semen; we also hope to have frozen
semen available as well. We can also arrange for you to bring an
approved bitch to Saber for live breeding if that is logistically
possible for you. For
information on using Saber at stud, please contact Ginger Corley.
